Hello Beautiful!

It's been a challenging week. My 89-year old mother has been ill, and it has taken quite a lot of time and attention to arrange the care that she needs. I have been worried – probably overly so – and tired, so I know that it is important to make time for self-care.

As I often find lately, I long for quiet and solitude, both something I have little of these days. I imagine going off alone to a small cabin, deep in the woods, in the middle of winter. Quiet, remote, the air is crisp and still, and there is a hush in the forest. And, of course, the moon. Always, the moon.

Do you have a “special place” you long for when you need to nurture yourself? This imaginary cabin in the woods is always the one I envision when I feel the need time for “soul-care.” Buddhist teachings talk about the “natural state” – which is a state of primordial purity or emptiness. I think my cabin represents this for me – quiet and uninterrupted by everyday consciousness and emotions and the daily “noisiness” of both the mind and the world.

There is some kiss we want with our whole lives,
the touch of Spirit on the body…
At night, I open the window and ask the moon to come
and press its face against mine.
Breathe into me.
Close the language-door, and open the love-window.
The moon won’t use the door, only the window.
RUMI

I shared this poem by Rumi, because it states – so simply and beautifully – exactly what I am feeling: the longing to connect deeply with Spirit (for me, the mystical Divine Feminine), which can only happen when we stop thinking (the “language-door”) and embrace the Moon (the Divine) through our heart (the “love-window”).

This is an especially important time – as we near the end of a decade and prepare to enter the coming new one – to pause, reflect, and integrate all that has happened this past year and set intentions for the new year and beyond. Which, of course, requires quiet and solitude… So, I am committed to creating time and space for that each day and each week.

What are your intentions for 2020 – the magical year of the return of Divine Feminine manifestation?

Reply to this email, and let me know. I'd love to hear from you!

Wishing you a wonderful week and so much love,

Susan
