Hello lovely! I was speaking with a client yesterday, who is having trouble identifying exactly what it is she wants to do with the rest of her life. She's been a very successful business woman, but feels frustrated because the work she is doing isn't inspiring her any more. I can completely relate to that, because I have felt that way, too.
I have always loved the quote by Mary Oliver, “What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” I shared this with my client, and found myself thinking about what Mary meant when she wrote these words…
- What is it you plan? FIrst of all, do you plan? Do you consciously and deliberately think about your life? We are nearing the end of not just another year, but another decade. This is an especially important time, during the last few months of 2019, to complete unfinished business and release and clear the way for the coming year. And not just the coming year, but a new decade! 2020 will be powerful. In numerology, the year 2020 represents the number 4 (2+2). It also represents the Master number 22. Both represent the divine presence – and, in particular, the Divine Feminine presence. So, dear one, this is the perfect time to step into your role as the wise woman and bring your gifts into the world.
- Your one wild and precious life… These words remind me, first and foremost, that I am entirely responsible for my life. My life is what I make of it. Accepting responsibility – completely – for all aspects of your life can be very freeing, because it also implies that YOU are in control and capable of changing and letting go of what no longer serves you.
Change can be difficult. There is a wonderful essay by Luminita Saviuc that reminds us to “embrace change” and rid ourselves of things that no longer serve us. I recommend you read it – and re-read it – until it becomes second nature to you. You may have run across this post before, but it's so powerful, that I wanted to share it with you here, as we prepare for the new decade and for coming into our own feminine wisdom.
What is your plan? What things will you give up to be happy?
