As women, we are so busy – with our jobs, as caregivers and caretakers, with all the daily distractions that come our way – that too often we don’t take the time to nurture and care for ourselves. We worry that when we take the time for self-care, we are being overly indulgent or selfish. But self-care is anything but that – in fact, without it, we become depleted and less able to give of ourselves to others.

One of the most important self-care practices that I have started “gifting” to myself lately is to allow myself to DO NOTHING. We often overlook the power of doing nothing. When we are still, when we are quiet – that’s when inspiration and guidance begin to really flow. That’s when the “ah-ha” moments come to us. It is a place of renewal and rejuvenation.

The outer world always beckons and calls. The solution is to find quiet and peace daily within ourselves. In the midst of a busy and often chaotic world, we must find this oasis of peace – a quiet mind – within ourselves. Peace means harmony and balance.

In silence and with attention, we gradually become the masters of our own mind, and the mastery of our mind is to keep it quiet whenever we wish. In that quiet, we can recharge and renew. Peace is tranquility; and tranquility is the atmosphere we create around ourselves. That sense of peace is contagious – when we are at peace, those around us feel relaxed.

Serenity is the highest form of peace.

So, I encourage you to make room for quiet and peace in your life. Even if just for a moment at the beginning and end of each day.

What do YOU do for self care? Send me an email or share it here on the Ageless Woman Facebook group. I love hearing from you.

Wishing you a wonderful week and much love,

Susan
